About the position

Normandy Schools Collaborative is seeking Physical Education (PE) Teacher(s) for the 2024 - 2025 School Year. The role involves providing students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The PE Teacher will report to the Building Principal and will not supervise any staff.

Responsibilities

  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Plan a program/lesson of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the principal.
  • Demonstrate an overall knowledge of one's discipline(s) that allows teaching to the student's ability levels and learning styles.
  • Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policies and administrative regulations.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
  • Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Assess the progress and accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Communicate expectations, criteria for assessment, student progress, and student strengths/weaknesses to parents and students.
  • Assess students' special needs and collaborate with school services and community agencies to meet those needs.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information concerning students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Modify own professional development plan to improve instructional performance and promote student learning.
  • Demonstrate high standards of professionalism and ethics.
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board policies.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Participate in district staff development.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and community members.
  • Maintain open communication with parents.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Missouri Teacher Certification appropriate for level and/or subject area of assignment.
