About the position

The Watson Chapel School District is seeking a dedicated and qualified Secondary Spanish Teacher to join our educational team starting August 7, 2024. This position involves teaching skills and knowledge in foreign language instruction to secondary pupils, specifically focusing on Spanish. The successful candidate will utilize the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and implement appropriate learning activities to facilitate a challenging academic environment. The teacher will be responsible for teaching aural comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish, ensuring that students develop proficiency in the language. In this role, the teacher will maintain an organized plan for each assigned course, including subject matter outlines and daily lesson plans. It is essential for the teacher to remain faithful to the course outline as indicated in the curriculum guide while also enriching the curriculum whenever possible. The teacher is expected to commit to ongoing professional growth in both discipline content and methodology, utilizing technology to enhance student learning and achievement. The teacher will also be responsible for completing grading within the assignment cycle, updating homework and test results online in a timely manner, and maintaining communication with parents, responding to inquiries within 24 hours. Professional responsibilities include executing all duties in a timely manner, promoting a collegial educational environment, and maintaining accurate records as required by state or federal law, District policies, and administrative regulations. The teacher will assist in upholding and enforcing school rules and policies, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment for all students.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Spanish language skills and knowledge to secondary students.

Requirements

  • Foreign teaching License, Subject Specific Endorsement, or enrollment in an Alternative Program leading to a license issued by the Department of Secondary and Elementary Education.
  • Satisfactory completion of Bureau of Criminal Investigation background check.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Ability to provide instruction through explanation, demonstration, and supervised practice.
  • Ability to supervise students and maintain order in various classroom activities.
  • Ability to operate general office equipment for daily activities.
  • Ability to prepare lesson plans, tests, and instructional materials for classroom activities.
  • Ability to identify student adjustment and/or academic problems and provide counseling or recommend remedial action.
