About the position

The Pomona Unified School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate Secondary Teacher for Art to join our team across various secondary sites. This position is integral to our mission of providing a well-rounded, challenging, and quality educational program that develops character and integrity in our students. As an Art Teacher, you will be responsible for creating an engaging and inclusive classroom environment that fosters creativity and artistic expression among students. You will develop lesson plans that align with state standards and cater to the diverse needs of students, ensuring that each student is equipped and empowered through academic opportunities and whole-student supports necessary for their success in college and career paths. In this role, you will collaborate with fellow educators, parents, and community members to enhance the educational experience and promote a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement. You will assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them grow in their artistic skills and knowledge. Additionally, you will participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and contribute to the overall improvement of the school's art program. The ideal candidate will possess a valid California Teaching Credential and have a strong background in art education. You will be expected to engage with students in a way that inspires them to explore their creativity and develop their artistic talents. Your role will also involve communicating effectively with parents and guardians about student progress and fostering a supportive learning environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging art lesson plans that meet state standards.

Requirements

  • Valid California Teaching Credential in Art or related field.
  • Verification of passing CSET, RICA, SSAT, and/or MSAT (if applicable).
  • Unofficial transcripts with a bachelor's degree posted.
  • Three letters of recommendation signed and dated within the past three years.
  • Basic Skills Requirement (CBEST) Verification of Passing.
