The Secondary Teacher for High School Spanish at Jefferson Parish Schools is responsible for promoting the mental, physical, emotional, and social growth of students assigned to their care. This role requires the teacher to utilize available instructional materials and a variety of techniques to provide opportunities for student achievement and development. The teacher must demonstrate knowledge and application of appropriate developmental practices for young children, ensuring that all students receive a quality education tailored to their individual needs. In addition to instructional responsibilities, the teacher is expected to maintain accurate and neat records, including class lists, attendance, health records, report cards, and permanent folders. An attractive and safe classroom environment is essential, and the teacher must report any unsafe conditions that require repairs. Effective classroom management techniques must be developed and implemented to foster a conducive learning environment. The teacher will also be responsible for planning and preparing lessons, submitting weekly lesson plans, and ensuring that all reports, assignments, and records are completed in a timely manner. Communication with parents regarding student progress and needs is encouraged, and the teacher must cooperate with school-based and central office personnel. Participation in professional development and in-service training is expected to demonstrate evidence of professional growth.
