About the position

As a Secondary Teacher in Mathematics at Stellar Virtual, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive virtual education to secondary students across Texas. This role involves collaborating with a team of educators, utilizing advanced virtual teaching tools, and creating a dynamic learning environment that fosters student engagement and success. You will develop interactive lessons, assess student progress, and maintain open communication with students and parents, all while adhering to state and district regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver dynamic and interactive virtual lessons that align with the Mathematics curriculum for secondary students.
  • Create engaging instructional materials, such as multimedia presentations, videos, and online activities, to facilitate meaningful learning experiences.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel motivated, supported, and encouraged to participate actively.
  • Utilize innovative teaching strategies and technology tools to enhance student engagement and understanding of concepts in Mathematics.
  • Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments and provide timely and constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with the Assessment Services team to support in-person seasonal testing procedures with students across various locations in Indiana.
  • Monitor and track student performance, identify areas of improvement, and develop individualized learning plans when necessary.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school administrators to address any concerns or challenges and maintain open lines of communication.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and align instructional units, assessments, and interdisciplinary projects.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends, resources, and best practices in various subjects in elective education and incorporate them into instruction.
  • Create an online classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage behavior under the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
  • Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings, peer learning communities, and committees as required by your direct supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Valid Texas teaching certification for the subject area and grade level.
  • Previous experience in virtual teaching or online education is a plus.
  • Proficient in using virtual teaching platforms and technology tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dedication to student success and a passion for teaching.
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
  • Student teaching approved internship or related work experience.
  • Experience using a student information system and/or another type of database.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven proficiency in Zoom, Google Workspace, PEIMS, LMS, Microsoft Office.
