About the position

The Secretary 9 position serves as a management assistant within the Geologic Resource Management Division (GRMD) of the Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE). This role is responsible for coordinating secretarial and clerical support activities for various sections, acting as a liaison between section managers and other staff, and ensuring effective communication regarding groundwater data and water use assessment programs. This is a limited-term position lasting two years.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate secretarial and clerical support activities for the Groundwater and Geological Services Section, Underground Injection Storage and Carbon Management Section, and Administration Section.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Section Manager and other EGLE professional staff.
  • Assist in managing communication with the public regarding the Groundwater Data Unit and Water Use Assessment Unit Programs.
  • Provide administrative support to section managers and professional staff as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Four years of office experience involving administrative support practices, including one year equivalent to advanced 8-level administrative support work, or equivalent to a Secretary E8, or Legal Secretary E8.
  • Alternatively, four years of office experience involving administrative support practices, including two years equivalent to experienced E7-level administrative support work, or equivalent to a Secretary 7, or Legal Secretary 7.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a government or public sector environment.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and policies.
