About the position

The Associate Warden's Secretary plays a crucial role in supporting the operations of the Department of Justice by providing administrative assistance to the Associate Warden. This position is responsible for maintaining the supervisor's calendar, processing requests, and preparing various documents, all while ensuring the security of the correctional institution. The role requires a blend of clerical skills and the ability to handle sensitive information in a correctional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the Associate Warden's calendar and manage appointment requests.
  • Serve as a liaison to the Associate Warden, processing requests personally.
  • Prepare materials such as memoranda, letters, reports, and requests in draft and final form.
  • Ensure the security of the institution as part of correctional responsibilities.
  • Handle routine inquiries and provide information on procedural matters.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Education: Completed 4 years of education above high school level in a relevant field for GL-05; graduate education may be credited for GL-06 in specific cases.
  • Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in federal service for both GL-05 and GL-06.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a correctional or law enforcement environment.
