About the position

The Associate Warden's Secretary plays a crucial role in supporting the operations of the Department of Justice by managing the Associate Warden's calendar, processing requests, and maintaining communication within the correctional institution. This position is essential for ensuring the smooth functioning of administrative tasks while upholding the security and safety of the institution.

Responsibilities

  • Receives requests and determines the nature of the inquiries, providing information for routine matters and referring others to the Associate Warden.
  • Maintains the supervisor's calendar and manages appointment requests with the supervisor and staff.
  • Acts as a liaison to the Associate Warden, processing requests personally.
  • Prepares materials such as memoranda, letters, reports, and requests in draft and/or final form as assigned.
  • Maintains security of the institution as a primary responsibility.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in federal service for GL-06 and GL-07 positions.
  • Experience in receiving and distributing correspondence, determining the nature of requests, and maintaining logs of actions and correspondence.
  • Experience in scheduling and confirming appointments and managing committee actions.

  • Graduate education related to the work of the position may be credited in some instances.
