The Secretary to the Principal at Fairport High School plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive administrative and secretarial support under the direct supervision of the building Principal. This position involves a wide variety of complex and confidential tasks that are essential for the smooth operation of the school. The Secretary will be responsible for communicating important information to school district employees, students, parents, and other stakeholders as required. This role is vital in ensuring that all department and program activities comply with legal, administrative, and district policy requirements. The Secretary will also assist in maintaining organized records, managing schedules, and facilitating communication within the school community. In addition to administrative duties, the Secretary will be expected to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. This includes managing correspondence, preparing reports, and assisting with the coordination of school events and activities. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to support the educational mission of the Fairport Central School District. The Secretary will also be involved in various clerical tasks that contribute to the overall efficiency of the school office, making this a dynamic and engaging role within the educational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide complex and confidential administrative support to the Principal.
  • Communicate information to school district employees, students, parents, and others as required.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance of department/program activities with legal, administrative, and District policy requirements.
  • Manage correspondence and prepare reports as needed.
  • Coordinate school events and activities in collaboration with staff and administration.
  • Maintain organized records and manage schedules for the Principal.

Requirements

  • Currently hold the Office Clerk II title OR be eligible to be reached on the Monroe County Civil Service Office Clerk II eligible list.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a secretarial or clerical role.
