The Secretary-Unit position at Indiana University Health in Bloomington is a part-time role focused on ensuring accurate and complete information is received from patients to facilitate effective coordination and communication among physicians, unit staff, and ancillary departments. This position is essential in scheduling daily tests and procedures, maintaining a comprehensive and up-to-date record of all patient tests and procedures, and managing the sign-in and sign-out process for patients within the unit. The role also includes providing receptionist functions for the unit, which involves alerting unit management to any issues or needs regarding policies, procedures, or practices within the unit. The Secretary-Unit is expected to perform all clerical duties associated with supporting the Patient Care Unit. This includes working evening shifts, specifically 12-hour shifts, totaling 24 hours weekly, and being available for every third weekend and holiday rotation. Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED, with a preference for those who have completed Medical Assistant or Medical Secretary classes, or have equivalent experience. Additionally, a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is preferred, along with 1-3 years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting. A basic knowledge of medical terminology is also preferred, and candidates must be able to complete any required training programs. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, is required for this role.
