The Secretary-Unit position at Indiana University Health in Bloomington is a part-time role that requires working night shifts, specifically 12-hour shifts, with a commitment to weekends and holidays as needed. In addition to these responsibilities, the Secretary will perform receptionist functions for the unit, alerting unit management to any issues or needs regarding policies, procedures, or practices. The role encompasses all clerical duties associated with supporting the Patient Care Unit, which is essential for the smooth operation of the healthcare environment. Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED, and while completion of Medical Assistant or Medical Secretary classes is preferred, equivalent experience will also be considered. The position requires basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. A Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is preferred, along with 1-3 years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting. A basic knowledge of medical terminology is also preferred. The successful candidate must be able to complete any required training programs and demonstrate a commitment to providing excellent patient care and support.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of Medical Assistant or Medical Secretary classes, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA preferred.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) required.
