About the position

The Section and Interest Group Coordinator at the American Statistical Association (ASA) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of various sections and interest groups within the organization. This role is crucial for ensuring the success and growth of these groups, fostering community engagement, and providing valuable resources to members. The position primarily operates remotely with occasional in-office requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the formation, development, and maintenance of sections and interest groups aligned with the organization's mission and goals.
  • Provide guidance and support to section and interest group leaders, ensuring they have the necessary resources and tools to effectively manage their groups.
  • Coordinate communication and collaboration among different sections and interest groups to foster a sense of unity and shared purpose.
  • Work with section and interest group leaders to manage logistics of workshops, conferences, and other events related to specific sections and interest groups.
  • Promote and market events to attract members and non-members.
  • Foster a strong sense of community and belonging among section and interest group members.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase membership engagement and retention.
  • Encourage members to participate in group activities, events, and discussions.
  • Oversee the election process for section and interest group leaders, working closely with staff who coordinate elections processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of section and interest group activities, membership data, and event attendance.
  • Prepare regular reports on the performance and impact of sections and interest groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in event planning and coordination.
  • Knowledge of membership management and database systems.
  • A passion for the organization's mission and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive community.
  • Experience working in a non-profit organization.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite.
