About the position

The SecureAccess WA UI Developer is a key role within the Secure Gateway Services team at Washington Technology Solutions (WaTech). This position focuses on enhancing the User Interface for SecureAccess Washington, which provides residents access to essential state services online. The developer will analyze business problems, implement industry standards for accessibility, and ensure a user-friendly design while integrating new technologies with legacy systems.

Responsibilities

  • Review changes to industry standards for equity and accessibility in software design and web applications, implementing changes to enhance usability for clients.
  • Host demonstrations for stakeholders to visualize the final product and test specific features or functionalities.
  • Ensure users can navigate, customize, and adjust settings on the interface according to their preferences.
  • Create a friendly and helpful design, continuously implementing new features while reducing user frustration.
  • Create proof of concept applications (mock-ups) to demonstrate proposed solutions for new software or tools.
  • Interpret customer and internal QA business requirements for enhancements to the User Interface (UI).
  • Create new user interfaces (CSS, HTML, JavaScript) for feedback, testing, and Quality Assurance.
  • Review industry trends and security standards to avoid vulnerabilities in the UI.
  • Advise internal QA planners on verifying UI design for accessibility and language translation.

Requirements

  • Nine years of Web Development experience, including four years in user interface design and responsive web interfaces supporting screen readers.
  • Four years' experience with Python, bash scripting, and Linux.
  • Four years' experience with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
  • Two years' experience in implementing web applications using JSP.
  • Formal education or completion of an accredited certificate program may substitute for up to four years of required experience.
  • Must possess or be able to acquire a Linux+ certification within six months of employment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two years' experience developing with SAML 2.0, OpenID Connect, or similar federated identity provider implementations.
  • Two years' experience with a large, high volume 24x7 customer or service provider network.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing web interfaces that support screen readers such as JAWS.
  • Experience with responsive web design.
  • Prior experience integrating with operation of SIEM with high traffic web applications.
