The Boeing Company is looking for a Secure Network & Protocols Software Engineer (Associate or Experienced) to join our P-8 Missions System Operating System Software Engineering team in Kent, WA. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization. This is a challenging and exciting opportunity supporting the software Execution Environment and Virtual Integration Platform development for P-8 Poseidon Mission Systems software. The P-8 Poseidon program is the premier Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) platform for the US Navy and several international partners. Candidates will belong to an agile software engineering development team that supports operating system, hardware, platform, and application development. Daily activities include developing and maintaining code and integrating software components into a fully functional software system. Successful candidates will assist with test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met. Additionally, they will support software project management and software supplier management functions. Candidates should select, tailor, and deploy processes and tools; establish metrics. Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%. Position Responsibilities include developing, testing, and maintaining the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows Operating System (OS) software execution environment, as well as developing, testing, and maintaining the high-fidelity desktop simulation environment to model the operation of P-8 Poseidon mission systems aircraft environment. The role also involves evaluating, testing, and integrating RHEL and Windows upgrades with mission systems software products, completing RHEL and Windows OS cyber security investigations, upgrades, and enhancements, and investigating, integrating, and evaluating lab and aircraft hardware. Candidates will design, develop, architect, and maintain software solutions for network stack protocol software used to securely exchange data between systems. They will conduct performance analysis, testing, monitoring, and software assessments of networking protocol software to assess, identify, and address risks, weaknesses, and vulnerabilities. Furthermore, they will provide input on secure network and protocols throughout the end-to-end lifecycle development of software products. Experienced Engineers will also research and implement current and emerging networking protocols, software security trends, vulnerabilities, and technologies, and perform software project management activities and software supplier management functions. This position is hybrid, requiring some work onsite at one of the listed location options, at the hiring team's discretion.
