About the position
Fisher Investments is seeking a Securities Research Analyst to join our Securities Research Group, which plays a crucial role in supporting the portfolio management team that oversees over $250 billion in assets under management (AUM). This position is ideal for finance and research-oriented professionals who have experience in equity research and analysis or capital markets. As a Securities Research Analyst, you will be responsible for driving portfolio outperformance through timely and impactful coverage of stock holdings across various firm strategies and conducting industry and thematic research for the Investment Policy Committee (IPC). In this role, you will cultivate your research and market knowledge alongside motivated peers who share a passion for the markets. You will receive in-depth training that will help you develop both quantitative and qualitative skills essential for successful analysts. Your expertise will grow as you cover specific sectors and industries, gaining insights into emerging trends and their relevance to Fisher Investments' key top-down themes. You will report directly to the Securities Research Manager and will be expected to deliver timely and relevant research to the IPC, generating impactful portfolio recommendations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include developing a comprehensive understanding of our investment philosophy, processes, and portfolio themes. You will build expertise in your assigned sector to analyze how market events affect forward relative returns and refine existing portfolio themes. Regular and ad hoc performance analysis and commentary will be provided to the IPC, and you will proactively identify industries and stocks that are likely to outperform selected benchmarks. Participation in Investment Roundtables, Fisher Client Forums, and client/prospect meetings will also be part of your role, where you will provide critical commentary to our Private Client Group, Fisher International, and Institutional Group through both written and oral communications.
Responsibilities
- Drive portfolio outperformance through timely and impactful coverage of stock holdings.
- Conduct industry and thematic research for the Investment Policy Committee (IPC).
- Develop a comprehensive knowledge of investment philosophy, processes, and portfolio themes.
- Build expertise on an assigned sector to understand market impacts on returns.
- Provide regular and ad hoc performance analysis and commentary to the IPC.
- Identify industries and stocks likely to outperform benchmarks.
- Participate in Investment Roundtables and Fisher Client Forums.
- Provide critical commentary to Private Client Group, Fisher International, and Institutional Group.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years' experience in equity research.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact with multiple audiences over several platforms.
- Desire to support client service and sales efforts.
- Ability to communicate in an actionable, concise, and efficient manner.
- Intellectual flexibility and drive to learn and test new ideas.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid learning.
