About the position

The Security Analyst position at WSSC Water involves providing subject matter expertise in cyber security operations, focusing on endpoint and network security technologies. The role is critical in ensuring the security of WSSC Water's IT hardware and software environments, which directly impacts the citizens of Prince George's and Montgomery Counties. The analyst will implement security measures, monitor networks, perform risk assessments, and respond to security breaches, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the organization's InfoSec operations.

Responsibilities

  • Implement data security measures.
  • Monitor networks and user access.
  • Perform vulnerability and risk assessments.
  • Respond to security breaches.
  • Perform security updates.
  • Mitigate the effects of security breaches.
  • Assist in modifying existing Security Tools, Reports, KPIs.
  • Ensure employee compliance with security measures.
  • Assist with preventative and emergency maintenance.
  • Create a risk management plan.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience in cyber security operations.
  • CISSP, CEH, or Risk Management Certification preferred.
  • Experience in security systems, technology, endpoint, and vulnerability tools.
  • Knowledge of risk management principles and information security technology.
  • Experience with network administration and analytical skills.
  • Hands-on experience with security tools such as Varonis, Mimecast, Sentinel One, Secret Server, Darktrace, and Absolute.
  • At least four years of specialized experience in defining computer security requirements and evaluating security product capabilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Cloud-based knowledge management technologies.
  • Familiarity with Personally Identifiable Information (PII) data security standards.
  • Experience with Payment Card Industry (PCI) data security standards.
  • Experience with Personal Health Information (PHI) data security standards.
  • Ability to generate reports for detecting PII/sensitive information.
