About the position

The Security Architect position is a senior-level role focused on the assessment and analysis of National Security Systems (NSS) in relation to cybersecurity risk management and compliance. The role involves creating and maintaining security architecture documentation, developing procedures for continuous monitoring, and providing guidance on cybersecurity policies and practices. The Security Architect will work closely with government personnel to enhance cybersecurity processes and ensure compliance with established frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Document changes and create/update architecture and design documents.
  • Develop procedures for continuous monitoring of devices accessing DHS networks.
  • Generate trending and ad-hoc reports as requested.
  • Develop draft guidance and policy regarding virtual environments.
  • Provide architecture advisement on network security, active directory design, and application integration.
  • Analyze continuous monitoring and configuration management to identify trends and anomalies.
  • Create Security Impact Analysis Reports and document technical meeting notes.
  • Prepare documents such as charters, agendas, and presentations.
  • Maintain distribution groups and publish messages to the DHS community.
  • Coordinate with CISOD Business Offices to track communications with executives.
  • Create and maintain forms and document templates for cybersecurity activities.
  • Provide status reports on data calls and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Generate meeting minutes and follow internal DHS processes.
  • Create and deploy custom reports and dashboards for government points of contact.
  • Provide weekly and ad hoc reports summarizing adherence to schedules and work completed.
  • Engage in planning and coordinating Working Group Meetings.
  • Provide customer service support to DHS Enterprise by resolving helpdesk tickets.
  • Support modernization of Cybersecurity processes and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with other contract vendors and Government personnel.
  • Provide recommendations on DHS policies and propose process improvements.
  • Develop training materials and resources for DHS Enterprise and MGMT.
  • Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and metrics for evaluating performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
  • 8 years of experience in cybersecurity or related field.
  • Top Secret security clearance and SCI eligibility required.
  • Certifications: CISSP, CISM, CRISC, or CCSP.

Nice-to-haves

  • Foundation and understanding of Security Architecture capabilities.
  • Knowledge of scanning applications (Nessus).
  • Experience applying STIGs.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies.
  • Linux system administration background.
  • Experience with MS SQL and Splunk.
