About the position
The Security Assistant position (GS-0086-5) is part of the Suitability Executive Agent Programs at the Office of Personnel Management. The role involves interacting with various Federal Agencies to provide technical advice and coordinate suitability actions. The selected candidate will be responsible for reviewing applicant suitability requests, making recommendations, and requesting additional information to clarify or resolve issues in cases.
Responsibilities
- Review routine and non-routine referrals of applicant suitability requests, including debarment referrals and investigations with major issues.
- Make recommendations for review by a Personnel Security Specialist, including accepting referrals or returning them to the agency if issues do not warrant OPM action.
- Request additional information from agencies, subjects, and other sources to establish jurisdiction or clarify issues in cases.
Requirements
- One year of specialized experience at the GS-04 grade level or equivalent, including maintaining files or generating correspondence with customers, updating personnel records with sensitive information, and reviewing documents for accuracy before entering data into a database.
- Four years of education above the high school level from an accredited institution, or a combination of education and experience that totals at least 100% of the requirements.
