About the position
The Security Communications Dispatcher at Atrium Health is responsible for receiving and dispatching information related to security and emergency services. This role involves managing communications through various channels, ensuring that appropriate personnel are dispatched to incidents, and maintaining monitoring equipment. The dispatcher must react calmly to both routine and emergency situations, providing professional service to customers and ensuring that all requests are handled promptly.
Responsibilities
- Receive information from various sources including telephone calls, radio calls, and monitoring equipment.
- Dispatch appropriate personnel to incidents including Security, Law Enforcement, and other emergency services.
- React calmly to all situations and assure customers that their requests will be handled expeditiously.
- Ensure that all monitoring equipment is in working order and report deficiencies for repairs.
- Monitor emergent equipment and send appropriate staff to handle situations effectively.
- Document requests for service and events in the Security Communications database.
- Confirm response to the scene and appropriate action taken.
- Transmit accurate information to personnel as needed and prioritize emergency calls appropriately.
- Monitor equipment panel abnormalities and ensure prompt response to incidents.
- Understand the purpose and functions of monitor panels and ensure systems are returned to normal working order.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1 Year Dispatch Center experience preferred.
- APCO Certification preferred.
- Ability to speak in a clear and concise manner.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in communication skills.
