About the position

The Security Engineer role within the Amazon Security Enterprise Protection team focuses on designing and building secure solutions to monitor and respond to malicious activities on Amazon's internal network. This position involves collaborating with various teams to develop tools and services that enhance security and protect customer data, while also addressing complex security challenges in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal service teams, IT services teams, Risk Assessment, and Security Response teams to build detections and analytics that reduce insider risk.
• Provide deep security knowledge to builder teams to enhance controls and audit capabilities.
• Develop detections and response plans to inform relevant personnel of anomalies.
• Lead complex and ambiguous projects while monitoring team progress and contributions.
• Drive innovative ideas to radically change approaches to security challenges and prioritize feedback models.
• Conduct calibration and review exercises across teams to ensure a consistent approach to detections.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience in threat modeling, secure coding, identity management, software development, cryptography, system administration, or network security.
• Common knowledge of security engineering, system and network security, authentication protocols, cryptography, or application security.
• Experience reading and writing in at least one programming language.

Nice-to-haves

• 3+ years of experience in threat modeling, secure coding, identity management, software development, cryptography, penetration testing, cloud security, mobile security, or network security.
• Strong application security background with a focus on scalable solutions.
• Excellent judgment in assessing and prioritizing technical risk.
• Experience building and securing complex AWS architecture.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
