About the position

The Security Engineer, EPP Analytics role at Amazon involves designing and building secure solutions to protect Amazon's internal network and customer data. The position requires collaboration with various teams to develop tools and services that monitor and respond to malicious activities, ensuring the safety of customers while addressing complex security challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal service teams, IT services teams, Risk Assessment, and Security Response teams to build detections and analytics that reduce insider risk.
  • Provide deep security knowledge and experience to builder teams to enhance controls and audit capabilities.
  • Develop detections and response plans to inform relevant personnel when anomalies occur.
  • Lead complex and ambiguous projects while paying attention to team dynamics and contributions.
  • Drive feedback and prioritization models to radically change the approach to security challenges.
  • Conduct calibration and review exercises across teams to ensure a consistent approach to detections.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in threat modeling, secure coding, identity management, software development, cryptography, system administration, or network security.
  • Common knowledge of security engineering, system and network security, authentication and security protocols, cryptography, or application security.
  • Experience reading and writing in at least one programming language.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of experience with threat modeling, secure coding, identity management, software development, cryptography, penetration testing, cloud security, mobile security, and network security.
  • Strong application security background with a focus on scalable solutions.
  • Experience building and securing complex AWS architecture.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and remove bottlenecks for teammates in process and technology.
