About the position

The Security Engineer II role at AWS focuses on enhancing cloud security, particularly within the Hardware Supply Chain Security team. This position involves evaluating risks in AWS operating environments and collaborating with various teams to develop effective security measures. The engineer will identify vulnerabilities in AWS data center operations and propose mitigations, ensuring a secure environment for AWS customers. A strong emphasis is placed on ownership, accountability, and the ability to understand complex security challenges across hardware, networking, and human operations.

Responsibilities

• Work with stakeholders to ensure new and existing processes are secure
• Calibrate with broader team on security findings
• Review processes to ensure secure mechanisms exist and validate security controls
• Establish mechanisms to introduce security controls reducing individual reviews

Requirements

• 3+ years of programming in Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++ or similar object-oriented language experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS and TCP/IP
• 3+ years of Hardware Security and Operational Supply Chain Security experience

Nice-to-haves

• 2+ years of any combination of the following: threat modeling experience, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration and network security experience
• Experience with AWS products and services
• Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, C++
