About the position

As a Lead Security Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Cybersecurity and Technology Controls organization, you will play a crucial role in delivering secure software solutions that meet predefined functional and user requirements while preventing misuse, circumvention, and malicious behavior. This position is integral to a high-performing team that is focused on shaping the future of software security at one of the world's largest and most influential companies. You will be responsible for executing creative security solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting, applying your depth of knowledge and expertise across all aspects of the software development lifecycle, both front-end and back-end. In this role, you will work collaboratively with stakeholders and junior colleagues to maintain a focus on common goals, fostering a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement. You will be expected to minimize security vulnerabilities by adhering to industry insights and governmental regulations, evolving security protocols, and creating processes to assess the effectiveness of current controls. Your contributions will not only enhance the security posture of the organization but also support the engineering community by advocating for firm-wide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle. Responsibilities

  • Executes creative security solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions and break down technical problems
  • Develops secure and high-quality production code and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Minimizes security vulnerabilities by following industry insights and governmental regulations to continuously evolve security protocols, including creating processes to determine the effectiveness of current controls
  • Works with stakeholders and business leaders to understand security needs and recommend business modifications during periods of vulnerability
  • Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
  • Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firm wide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Skilled in planning, designing, and implementing enterprise level security solutions
  • Advanced in one or more programming languages: Java (required), C/C++, Python
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
