About the position

Kansas City Life Insurance Company, a recognized leader in the insurance industry, is seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual to join our IT department. The ideal candidate would meet the following requirements:

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust security measures to safeguard computer systems, networks, and sensitive information.
  • Configure and troubleshoot security platforms, ensuring optimal performance and resilience.
  • Leverage cutting-edge security tools to proactively identify and mitigate vulnerabilities, while automating repetitive tasks.
  • Facilitate swift incident response by promptly notifying the company about security incidents and taking appropriate action.
  • Implement advanced security controls and automation solutions to fortify the organization's infrastructure and protect valuable data.
  • Develop and execute automated proactive scans and tests to identify potential weaknesses or vulnerabilities.
  • Mentor junior security engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure security best practices are integrated into all aspects of IT operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree specializing in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
  • CISSP Certification preferred, certifications in TOGAF, CTA, or Zackman.
  • 6 or more years of progressive information technology experience directly related to security engineering.
  • Hands on experience in security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, etc.
  • Solid understanding of security protocols, cryptography, authentication, authorization, OSI Model, TCP/IP stack, and security methodologies.
  • Practical hands-on experience with network security and networking technologies and with system, security, and network monitoring tools.
  • Experience implementing multi-factor authentication, single sign-on, identity management or related technologies.
  • Experience with multiple system delivery methods and technologies, such as AWS, Azure, VMWare, Windows Server, Linux, and various database technologies.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen with demonstrated understanding of technology.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Regular and reliable attendance and punctuality is an essential function of this position.
