About the position

The Security Engineer, Sr position at PNC is focused on driving the design, development, and implementation of security solutions within the Enterprise Key Management organization. This role requires expertise in encryption solutions, centralized key management, and hardware security modules, with responsibilities that include providing subject matter expertise, collaborating with teams, and ensuring the security of technology solutions. The position is primarily based in various PNC locations, with some remote work possible at the manager's discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise when applying security concepts.
  • Leverage technical knowledge and industry experience to design, build, and implement technology solutions.
  • Determine impact to existing solutions when new standards are implemented.
  • Develop and implement cryptographic solutions.
  • Develop documentation related to security solutions.
  • Responsible for deliverables related to project timelines.
  • Knowledgeable of current technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Work with architecture to take high-level designs and determine implementation specifics.
  • Lead in the evaluation of patches, updates, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Drive collaboration with the operations team to identify pain points and implement corrective actions.
  • Utilize change control and governance processes to ensure alignment of solutions.
  • Provide engineering support to existing technology in a production environment.
  • Mentor and share knowledge with other team members.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of industry-relevant experience in security engineering or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; higher education such as a Master's or PhD is desirable.
  • Experience with Key Management and HSM solutions (e.g., Thales Network HSM, Oracle Key Vault).
  • Understanding of Cryptography, encryption, and algorithms.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages is a plus.
  • Experience with cloud key management solutions (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Knowledge of Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint.
