About the position

The Security Guard position at Brookdale Charlotte East is responsible for maintaining a secure environment for residents and associates. This role involves monitoring the premises, greeting visitors, responding to emergencies, and ensuring the safety of the community. Responsibilities

  • Maintain a secure environment for all residents and associates within the building and on the community grounds.
  • Greet visitors and monitor the inside and outside of the building, logging all residents and visitors in and out.
  • Report any abnormal findings to the Executive Director or proper authorities.
  • Lock doors at designated times according to community protocol and check the security of all doors regularly throughout the night.
  • Monitor all emergency and safety equipment including security cameras, phones, and life safety systems.
  • Respond to emergencies by contacting appropriate internal and external parties according to established protocol.
  • Assist with disaster management efforts during evacuations (i.e. fires, hurricanes, etc.).
  • Answer the phone promptly and respond to questions, directing calls or taking messages as appropriate.
  • Escort residents and visitors to the parking lot during evening hours as requested.
  • Handle leasing inquiries after hours and on weekends, providing accurate information to the Director of Sales & Marketing.
  • Drive the bus or community vehicle as needed or scheduled.
  • Handle minor maintenance emergencies (i.e. plugged toilets, reset breakers, replace light bulbs, etc.) as needed.
  • Ensure the lobby and administrative offices are clean and notify housekeeping if cleaning is needed.
  • Interact with residents and guests in a friendly and courteous manner, providing assistance and directions as requested.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
  • One to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fire Safety and Basic CPR/First Aid training required.
  • Valid driver's license required for positions that require travel between locations or transportation of residents.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic technical skills to complete repetitive and well-defined duties.
  • Basic knowledge of the organization to answer basic questions.
