About the position

The Security Investigator is responsible for obtaining and analyzing information to investigate crimes, disturbances, suspects, and to manage case files in a professional and confidential manner. The Security Investigator will collaborate with the Security Director to decide whether or not a crime has taken place and how to proceed. Investigations should use a risk-based approach by considering risk factors to personnel, key assets, and potential for damage to corporate reputation. Key activities include gathering and securely storing investigation files and related evidence and subsequent preparation of clear, accurate and timely reports. The position requires data collection regarding trends of criminal activity or gathering information and evidence that may be required for subsequent legal action. The scope of this position requires the Security Investigator to report to the Security Director and work within standards in the Performance of Work Statement (PWS), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and relevant sections of ISO 18788, Management System for Private Security Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, manage, and coordinate investigations on AFAB.
  • Process crime scenes to include collecting evidence carefully and ensure it is recorded and secured, with all necessary supporting documentation.
  • Consult regularly and seek guidance from the Security Director and be prepared to deliver confidential briefings about ongoing investigations, with a focus on security implications.
  • Provide written investigative reports to the Security Director and be prepared to respond to requests for information (RFIs), from other senior managers including Project Manager, Corporate Officers, or US Government Officials.
  • Request additional resources in a timely manner from the Security Director if required.
  • Follow up leads or allegations. This may involve direct observation and documenting activities of individuals to detect unlawful acts or to obtain evidence, to include witness statements, direct observation (using closed caption television (CCTV) or still photography for example).
  • Obtain and analyze information on suspects, crimes, and disturbances to collect / confirm facts, identify potentially criminal activity and gather information for use in subsequent legal action.
  • Investigate criminal acts and property crimes. Examples of crimes on AFAB may include property theft, passing unauthorized information/photos, industrial sabotage, burglaries, subversion, collusion/conspiracy, intimidation, assault, and vandalism.
  • Collect forensic evidence to investigate crimes.
  • Conduct various types of interviews with informants, suspects, and witnesses to discover facts, assess credibility of witness statements, ascertain alibis, examine clues, estimate, or prove time frames and identify potential suspects.
  • Prepare effective filing systems that provide secure storage but allow efficient retrieval of investigative reports and related physical evidence.
  • Maintain Sallyport weapon qualifications for issued weapons according to SOPs.
  • Other duties as assigned by the management.

Requirements

  • Must be able to take the lead in a security investigation on AFAB and develop methods to find evidence and decide upon the facts of a case by following logical ethical steps to identify criminal activity and correctly identify the culprits.
  • Ability to produce clear, concise and reports of sufficient quality to be presented to the Security Director and Corporate Office in a timely manner.
  • Possess strong analytical skills with ability to advise senior decision-makers on investigative outcomes.
  • Excellent report writing skills, policy development, SOP review and maintenance of investigation records and physical evidence.
  • Knowledge of US investigative techniques and procedures including proper use of CCTV and other means of evidence gathering is required.
  • Awareness of investigative concepts and procedures as per the AFAB Program of Work Statement (PWS) is required.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement, prioritize competing tasks and demonstrate reliable leadership in a high tempo and occasionally stressful environment.
  • Understanding of cultural factors and sensitivities when working with different nationalities / Iraqi co-workers.
  • Willing to be flexible regarding hours and respond quickly to time sensitive or urgent requirements.
  • Must have HOR driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Sound working knowledge of ISO 18788 'Management Systems for Private Security Operations is highly desirable.
  • Qualification in investigations is highly desirable.
  • Experience in hazardous environments is highly desirable.
