About the position
The Security Monitoring Specialist at SOCX plays a crucial role in safeguarding assets, personnel, and clients through vigilant monitoring of security systems. This position involves managing video surveillance, alarm monitoring, and responding to incidents effectively. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and experience in law enforcement dispatching or related fields, ensuring operational integrity and swift incident response.
Responsibilities
- Monitor alarms from various systems, including intrusion detection, fire alarms, and access control, assessing alarm events for validity and urgency.
- Monitor multiple live video feeds from various site locations, identifying and responding to suspicious activities or security incidents.
- Coordinate and initiate responses to security incidents, recording all actions taken and communications according to SOCX policies.
- Provide technical support for security systems, troubleshooting and assisting with maintenance and upgrades.
- Collect and assess intelligence from various sources to recognize potential threats and prepare notifications for operational decisions.
- Maintain clear and concise internal and external communication, providing timely updates on security incidents.
- Generate incident reports, daily logs, and performance metrics, analyzing data trends to identify potential security risks.
- Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge, sharing insights with colleagues.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in security monitoring, video surveillance, or alarm response.
- Proficiency in operating security monitoring software and systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service skills to address inquiries effectively.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and make sound decisions quickly.
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to security monitoring.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a security operation or 911 dispatch center preferred.
