The Security Officer at Kennestone Hospital is responsible for maintaining peace and order within the facility, ensuring the safety and welfare of employees, patients, visitors, and property. This role involves a combination of fixed post duties and patrolling assigned areas to provide excellent customer service and protect individuals and property. The Security Officer will enforce the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of WellStar Health System, assisting employees, patients, and visitors as needed. This position requires vigilance and alertness to identify and respond to activities that could result in injury or damage, as well as the ability to document observations, hazards, and incidents for follow-up corrective action. In addition to routine security duties, the Security Officer will assist with emergency response situations as directed by a supervisor, responding quickly and effectively to both emergency and non-emergency situations. The officer will also escort individuals and assist facility personnel, maintaining a visible deterrence to crime and suspicious activities in both public and non-public areas. Excellent customer service is a key component of this role, requiring the officer to maintain positive working relationships with facility staff and communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals, including clients, employees, visitors, and vendors. The Security Officer will be expected to write accurate, clear, and legible reports, attend monthly staff meetings, and participate in in-service classes related to the Security Department. This position is critical in ensuring the overall safety and security of the hospital environment, contributing to the well-being of all who enter the facility.
