About the position

The Security Officer 2 is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, medical staff, and employees at Baylor Scott & White Health. This role involves patrolling assigned areas, responding to public service calls, and maintaining order while ensuring the safety of all individuals on the premises. The officer will also investigate incidents, promote good public relations, and safeguard company assets.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas to detect unauthorized persons or potential sources of crime.
• Maintain clear and continuous radio contact with base, shift supervisor, and other officers.
• Intervene in disturbances in a calm and efficient manner.
• Respond to public service calls, including escorting patients and assisting with vehicle issues.
• Assist Police Officers as required to maintain order and assist with arrests.
• Respond to medical emergencies within the scope of training and expertise.
• Ensure facilities are secure by locking and unlocking doors as required.
• Produce accurate reports of incidents, including criminal offenses and safety hazards.
• Handle sensitive investigations and safeguard confidential information.
• Control traffic flow at designated points and issue citations for parking violations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Less than 1 year of experience in a related field.
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Commissioned Security Officer certification within 6 months of hire.
• Valid Driver's License (TXDL) if moving from out of state.
