Officers must be prepared to sound alarms or contact emergency services in case of fire or unauthorized presence. They will also assist authorized individuals in entering the property while monitoring entrances and exits. The position requires effective communication skills to interact with customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner. Officers must complete a State of North Carolina 16-hour basic security officer course within 30 days of hiring and adhere strictly to client facility rules and policies. Candidates must be able to work various shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays, as needed. The job requires maintaining accurate records, comprehending numerous policies and procedures, and effectively responding to various situations. Officers will be expected to patrol the client's facility, control access, and stand for long periods, sometimes exceeding eight hours, while working outdoors in various weather conditions. The position also requires passing a drug test, undergoing an extensive background check, and providing a DD214 discharge document if prior military service is applicable. Responsibilities

  • Fulfill role as the security officer during the shift and represent the shift to the site supervisor.
  • Conduct security patrols of designated areas on foot or in a vehicle.
  • Understand and fulfill obligations and responsibilities of all posts.
  • Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities.
  • Complete the State of North Carolina 16-hour basic security officer course within 30 days of hiring.
  • Maintain daily activity reports on paper, computer, smartphone, or tablet.
  • Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
  • Sound alarms or call police or fire department in case of fire or unauthorized persons.
  • Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances and exits.
  • Assist customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.

Requirements

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Pass any State-required training or other qualifications for licensing.
  • Complete site-specific training before serving as a qualified security officer.
  • Have a driver's license if driving a company or client-owned vehicle.
  • Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors.
  • Ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States.
  • Have access to reliable transportation for short notice response.
  • Be able to work any shift, 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
  • Participate in training sessions and meetings when scheduled.
  • Adhere to EKG and client safety policies.
  • Have a mobile phone and an e-mail address and regularly use it.
  • Be able to operate a computer (Windows-based) and tablet with basic competency.
  • Effectively read, write, and speak English.
  • Not use illegal drugs and pass a drug test with negative results (except when undergoing documented medical treatment).
  • Submit to an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks if applicable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in customer service (1 year preferred).
