About the position

The Security Officer at Edgewater in Laughlin, NV, plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of guests, employees, and property assets. This position requires a proactive approach to security, including the ability to assist in emergency situations and provide accurate and courteous service. The officer must be knowledgeable about casino responsibilities and be able to investigate situations according to company and departmental standards, preparing written reports as necessary. The role involves enforcing all state, federal, and gaming laws, and the officer must be prepared to detain or arrest individuals when appropriate. In addition to providing security, the officer is responsible for patrolling all areas of the casino and hotel, assisting guests with room keys, and responding to reports of guest or employee injury or illness. The officer must preserve the scene of any criminal activity for investigators and outside agencies and utilize a Guard One scanning device to document patrols. The position also includes responsibilities such as performing table game fills, transporting markers to the main cage, verifying slot jackpots, and assisting disabled guests with wheelchair escorts. During emergencies, the officer will direct evacuations and assist guests as needed. The Security Officer must ensure compliance with all applicable gaming laws and company internal controls, policies, and procedures, including Title 31 and federal regulations. This role requires attending all scheduled meetings and training classes, as well as performing any other duties assigned by management. Outstanding guest service is a key expectation for this position, ensuring that all internal and external guests receive the highest level of service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide security/safety for guests/employees and property assets.
  • Enforce all State, Federal and gaming laws; detain or arrest when appropriate.
  • Assist with all emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of hotel/department policies and procedures to provide accurate information to guests/employees.
  • Investigate and prepare written reports.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings and training classes.
  • Abide by all County/State and corporate law/policy.
  • Protect the casino and all employees and guests of the casino.
  • Guard all transfers of moneys and tokens on the casino floor.
  • Patrol all areas of the casino and hotel.
  • Assist guests with room keys.
  • Respond to reports of guest or employee injury or illness.
  • Preserve the scene of criminal activity for investigators and outside agencies.
  • Utilize Guard One scanning device to document patrol.
  • Perform table game fills, transport markers to main cage, and verify slot jackpots.
  • Assist disabled guests with wheelchair escorts.
  • Direct evacuations during emergencies and assist guests as needed.
  • Transport employees injured on the job and perform other driving assignments as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable gaming laws and company internal controls, policies and procedures, Title 31, and federal regulations.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by management.
  • Provide outstanding guest service to all internal and external guests.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Security, law enforcement or military experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate and understand the English language for documentation and communication with guests/employees.
  • Ability to display diligence in the patrol of an assigned area.
  • Ability to investigate complaints.
  • Ability to handle all security casino responsibilities.
  • Ability to perform as a dispatcher.
  • Ability to operate a word processor keyboard (25 wpm), a portable radio, phone, key control, and remote fire printer, along with fire command center equipment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all cards required by the company.
  • Must be able to verify right to work in the U.S.
