The Security Officer for Campus Access Control at Barbier Security Group is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of a prestigious private university in Oakland, CA. This full-time position involves monitoring access points, documenting events, and serving as a liaison between campus personnel, students, and law enforcement. The role requires a commitment to professional interactions and the promotion of campus safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Drive security solutions across campus
• Display good communication and integrity skills
• Exhibit exceptional Guest Service skills with all individuals
• Effectively control access to the property of authorized persons at vehicle entry points
• Demonstrate Safety as a primary focus
• Monitor and log CCTV cameras for unusual and/or suspicious activity
• Utilize specialized training to identify potential indicators of unusual conduct
• Complete key service requests and task work orders for maintenance needs
• Maintain situational awareness at all times
• Respond to critical incidents including emergencies and evacuations
• Promote the value of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in all interactions
• Engage with students, faculty, and visitors with inspiring guest service
• Communicate effectively with University staff to ensure campus objectives are met

Requirements

• Valid California Guard Card
• Current California Driver's License
• 3 years of driving experience with a clean driving record
• Full availability for a 2-week training program
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Strong computer proficiency, including typing skills
• Knowledge of CCTV equipment, access controls, alarm monitoring, and computer databases
• Ability to meet physical demands including prolonged standing, constant use of hands and eyes

Nice-to-haves

• Previous Security, Law Enforcement, Military or related Public Safety experience
• Previous security responsibilities for a campus facility
