About the position
The Security Officer at Connecticut Children's Medical Center is responsible for overseeing day-to-day security operations across various affiliated locations. This role involves ensuring the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors while providing high-quality service during emergency situations. The officer will work collaboratively with other security personnel and respond promptly to security calls, maintaining a calm and professional demeanor at all times.
Responsibilities
- Assist in coordinating day-to-day security operations at all Connecticut Children's Medical Center locations.
- Respond promptly to calls for security assistance and work collaboratively with other Security Officers.
- Address safety and security situations related to patients, students, staff, and visitors, notifying appropriate personnel as needed.
- Provide guidance during emergency situations to staff, patients, and visitors.
- Assist with patient watches and restraints, ensuring adherence to security policies and controls.
- Gather data, compile information, and prepare reports related to security activities and incidents.
- Conduct property searches and monitor the use of metal detecting wands to ensure safety.
- Foster a cooperative and positive work environment within a diverse community.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Three to five years of operational security experience in health care security or a combination of health care security and law enforcement.
- Valid State of CT Guard Card upon hiring or ability to obtain one within the first 3 months of employment.
- Non-violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) certification to be obtained within the first 3 months of employment.
- BLS/CPR for Providers certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross, must remain current.
Nice-to-haves
- Education in Criminal Justice or Emergency Management.
- Valid driver's license.
