About the position

The Security Officer II position at Sutter Health is responsible for maintaining a secure and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This role involves patrolling the facility, monitoring for suspicious activities, and responding to emergencies. The officer will also provide assistance and security services, ensuring the well-being of all individuals on the premises.

Responsibilities

• Perform interior/exterior building and ground patrols to prevent fire, theft, misuse, and vandalism.
• Secure or unlock facility doors/entrances at specified times.
• Inspect elevators and fire escape stairwells, reporting discrepancies.
• Monitor surveillance equipment and inspect buildings and access points.
• Respond to emergency codes, fire drills, and alarms.
• Provide security education and conduct fire drills for the Safety Department.
• Respond to emergency calls for assistance, including controlling disorderly conduct and potential abductions.
• Document observations and incidents in detail.
• Assist local authorities when needed.
• Report unusual circumstances and complete Security Incident Reports.
• Provide assistance and information to patients, visitors, and staff.
• Act as the first point of contact for security assistance.
• Assist with lost and found items and answer general questions about security policies.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
• Proprietary Private Security Officer certification within 30 days of start date.
• 1 year of recent relevant experience.
• General knowledge of security officer duties, particularly in a healthcare environment.
• Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
