About the position

The Security Officer position at Blessing Hospital is responsible for ensuring a safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees. This role involves patrolling the premises, responding to security issues, and maintaining communication with local law enforcement and Emergency Department staff. The officer will also assist in restraining combative patients and escorting incarcerated individuals as needed, while actively participating in the hospital's mission and core values.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees.
• Patrol parking lots and protect physical assets.
• Respond to all security issues promptly.
• Maintain good working relationships with local law enforcement agencies.
• Serve as the law enforcement liaison for the Emergency Department.
• Communicate effectively with Emergency Department staff.
• Assist in restraining combative patients when necessary.
• Escort incarcerated patients and assist law enforcement personnel as required.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Obtain Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to function quickly and calmly in emergency situations.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Typing and computer skills.
• Knowledge of security functions through education or work experience (e.g., military, law enforcement).
• Previous crisis intervention training and experience.
