About the position

The Security Officer at Dominican Hospital is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for all individuals on the premises. This role involves responding to emergencies, patrolling the facility, monitoring security systems, and maintaining accurate logs of activities. The position requires adherence to Dignity Health's core values and support for quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Protecting staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely manner, including handling violent or unruly individuals and emergencies.
• Patrolling the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle, monitoring security alarms, and dispatching officers as needed.
• Knowledge of emergency procedures and equipment, reporting HIPAA breaches, and conducting follow-up investigations on security incidents.
• Logging all activities in a daily log and completing clear, concise, and legible reports in a timely manner.

Requirements

• Six (6) months experience as a security officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, prior law enforcement or military service; OR one (1) year experience as a security officer.
• High school diploma or equivalent; OR three (3) years' experience as a security officer.
• CA security officer license with no disciplinary actions (Guard Card).
• American Heart Association approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of employment.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English, both orally and in writing.
• Understanding and use of de-escalation techniques.
• Annual workplace violence training.

Nice-to-haves

• Current driver's license with satisfactory DMV report or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
• Completion of IAHSS Basic Training for Healthcare Security Officer within 90 days.
