The Security Officer is responsible for patrolling University premises to protect persons and property, maintaining order, enforcing regulations, and ensuring observance of applicable laws.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree
• Three to six months related experience and/or training
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and customer service skills
• Must exhibit leadership ability
• Demonstrated capacity for planning and follow through
• Must be eligible to obtain State of Maryland Special Police Officer license within 6 months of employment
• Valid Driver's License for state of residence
• Must be able to pass criminal background check

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned area to maintain a safe environment and enforce applicable laws and University policy.
• Secures facilities and personnel by monitoring surveillance equipment and responding to emergencies.
• Prevents loss or damage by reporting irregularities and informing violators of policy and procedures.
• Completes reports by recording observations and interviewing witnesses.
• Conducts routine inspections and monitors building and equipment controls.
• Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Maintains confidentiality and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
• Complies with legal requirements and maintains professional knowledge by studying applicable laws and attending workshops.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Benefits
