About the position
The Officer will be responsible for monitoring access control at Mount Sinai South Nassau, ensuring the safety and security of the hospital environment. This includes identifying visitors, vendors, and deliveries, as well as checking employee identification. The role requires a courteous and helpful demeanor when interacting with hospital personnel, patients, medical staff, and visitors. The Officer may also perform additional security-related assignments as directed by the Director of Security or their designee.
Responsibilities
- Monitor access control by identifying visitors, vendors, and deliveries.
- Check employee identification to ensure security protocols are followed.
- Perform other security-related assignments as needed at the discretion of the Director of Security.
- Represent the hospital in a courteous and helpful manner when dealing with personnel, patients, medical staff, and visitors.
Requirements
- Must complete in-house orientation program.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of Code Gray training is necessary.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English is required.
- Law enforcement background preferred or security background required.
- NYS Security Guard License or an active Police or Peace officer retired less than 10 years is required as per NYS General Business Law Article 7-A-(89-E - 89W).
- NYS Driver's License strongly preferred.
