About the position

The Security Officer at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the hospital's premises, including patients, employees, and property. This role involves responding to security issues, providing access assistance, and documenting incidents as per departmental policies. The position requires a proactive approach to security, maintaining communication with supervisors and fellow officers, and exhibiting good judgment in critical situations.

Responsibilities

• Perform security services through interaction with the public, patients, and employees.
• Provide security at specific locations and respond to security issues.
• Assist with access as requested and report suspicious circumstances and emergencies.
• Document all crimes, incidents, and safety-related irregularities per department policy and procedure.
• Acknowledge and respond to alarms, determining the source and providing proper assistance.
• Maintain appropriate communication with Supervisors and Security Operations Center to report irregularities and obtain further instructions.
• Exhibit good judgment during critical situations and maintain a professional demeanor.
• Assess situations considering the age of individuals involved and gather information pertaining to incidents.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or Equivalent
• Valid Driver's License
• BLS through American Heart Association preferred
