About the position

The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a secure environment at the facility by controlling access, monitoring activities, and responding to incidents. This role involves both physical and electronic security measures to protect the property, employees, and assets from unauthorized access, theft, and other security threats. The officer will perform patrols, monitor surveillance systems, and ensure compliance with safety regulations while providing excellent customer service to visitors and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provides effective access control to property entrances including vehicle and personnel entrances.
• Challenges personnel who do not have proper access.
• Processes visitors, guests, and vendors.
• Reads and understands bill of ladings and processes vehicles making deliveries and shipments.
• Performs visual machinery checks to ensure they are operating properly.
• Operates access control gates both manually and remotely.
• Monitors the facility using closed circuit television.
• Monitors access control system devices and conducts basic troubleshooting.
• Prevents unauthorized access.
• Controls the movement of people and vehicles.
• Controls parking of the property as required.
• Performs interior and exterior vehicle and/or foot patrols essential to property and employee protection.
• Protects the property from fire, theft, vandalism, and unauthorized entry.
• Makes notifications to Executives per established procedures.
• Maintains effective communications during normal duties and during incidents.
• Checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, security violations, and unauthorized persons.
• Monitors and administers security devices (i.e., badging systems, CCTV, etc.).
• Protects evidence or scene of incident in the event of accidents, emergencies, or security investigations.
• Prepares logs or reports as required for patrol route; writes or types reports or enters information in a computer.
• Observes and reports incidents or suspicious activity to supervisors, company management, or public safety authorities.
• Responds to incidents including fire, medical emergencies, bomb threats, flooding, and other conditions.
• Provides investigative support.
• Handles confidential information.
• Monitors and verifies property removal from facility.

Requirements

• Preferably two (2) years of physical security experience.
• Six (6) months physical security experience in a manufacturing environment.
• One (1) year in a law enforcement related field.
• One (1) year in the armed forces.
• High school diploma or GED.

Nice-to-haves
