About the position

The Security Officer at OSF HealthCare is responsible for maintaining safety and security across the healthcare campuses. This role involves conducting unarmed patrols, monitoring alarm systems, assisting in investigations, and deterring criminal activity and misconduct. The position requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to respond effectively to various situations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct unarmed patrols of OSF HealthCare campuses.
• Monitor alarm systems and respond to alerts.
• Assist in investigations related to security incidents.
• Deter criminal activity and misconduct through visible presence.
• Provide excellent customer service and support to staff and visitors.

Requirements

• Current State Drivers License.
• BLS (American Heart Association) certification within 90 days of hire.
• International Association for Healthcare Safety and Security Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) within 1 year of hire.
• National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification within 1 year of hire.
• Active FOID Card.
• Service with a police department or active military, military reserves or National Guard, and/or 1 year of security experience or customer service.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

• Associate's Degree.
• Service with a police department or active military, military reserves or National Guard, and/or 3 years of security experience.
• International Association for Healthcare Safety and Security Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) Advanced Certification.
