About the position

This position is for a Security Officer at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, primarily working the night shift. The schedule includes shifts from Sunday to Tuesday from 1900 to 0700 and Wednesday from 2300 to 0300. Security Officers play a crucial role in providing direct security and public services within the hospital. They serve as a visible deterrent to crime and intervene in crisis situations as necessary. The role requires a proactive approach to maintaining safety and security in both public and non-public areas of the organization. Officers are expected to respond quickly and effectively to both emergency and non-emergency situations, ensuring the safety of patients, visitors, and staff. In addition to responding to incidents, Security Officers are responsible for identifying individuals who may be experiencing emotional distress and providing appropriate support or direction. They may need to intervene verbally or physically during crises and are tasked with escorting and assisting patients, visitors, and staff as needed. Officers must remain vigilant for activities that could lead to injury and execute both written and verbal instructions accurately. They are also responsible for writing clear and legible reports and staying informed about the layout of the hospital to effectively perform their duties. Regular rounds on various units and departments are part of the job to ensure a constant security presence throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Provides a visible deterrence to crime, prohibited activities, or suspicious activities in both public and non-public areas of the organization.
  • Responds quickly and effectively to emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Identifies individuals experiencing emotional distress and/or not properly processing information.
  • Intervenes verbally and/or physically during crisis situations.
  • Escorts and assists patients, visitors, and staff as needed.
  • Remains alert and vigilant for activities which could result in injury.
  • Executes written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Writes accurate, clear, and legible reports.
  • Remains informed on current layout of all organizational locations.
  • Rounds on units/departments and other locations as scheduled or necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (or Equivalent Certificate from an accredited program) or higher degree.
  • CPI training within 60 days of start date.
