About the position

The Security Officer at Freeport-McMoRan is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the Miami smelter and rod plant. This role involves performing patrols, responding to emergencies, and providing customer service at the assigned location. The officer will enforce company policies, conduct surveillance, and collaborate with emergency response teams to maintain a secure environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of patrol, security, emergency response and customer service duties at assigned location.
• Greet and log in all visitors and vendors at entrance gate.
• Notify appropriate personnel or department of arrival.
• Direct visitors and vendors to destination.
• Enforce company policies and procedures.
• Perform frequent patrols of the property.
• Walk, bicycle, or drive vehicle on irregularly scheduled rounds of property.
• Observe conditions of equipment, grounds and facilities.
• Pick up litter or debris as needed, or arrange clean-up with maintenance crews.
• Report damages or areas in need of repair to the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Conduct surveillance of locations or areas in which vandalism or criminal activities have been noted.
• Assist with and trained for emergency situations.
• Collaborate with police officers in the prevention of crime.
• Work with fire response units for fire suppression, and with medical emergency response units in the event of emergency situations, at the assigned location.
• Provide basic emergency medical response (e.g. performs CPR, gives basic first aid) when needed.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• Current CPR and first aid certifications, as required by specific site location.
• Skilled in responding appropriately to emergency and conflict situations.
• Knowledge of site rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Knowledgeable of the site topography and locations of emergency equipment and access points.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
