About the position

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Security Onboarding Specialist to support clearance accessibility for the Internal Revenue Service. This position will be a fully remote position within the United States with core hours of operations from 8 AM to 5 PM ET. The Security Onboarding Specialist will play a crucial role in coordinating with business and technology teams to initiate and collect required information from new hires to initiate background checks for access to IRS information once cleared. This role requires a strong understanding of computer operations, processes, and workflows, as well as the ability to interact effectively with personnel to solicit onboarding documents and ensure accurate submissions. The responsibilities of the Security Onboarding Specialist include submitting onboarding requests using tools such as Dropbox, Airtable, and SharePoint, and monitoring the establishment of network accounts and requests for government-furnished equipment (GFE, PIV). The specialist will also work with teammates to track onboarding adjudication status, network account requests, and escalate risk issues as necessary. Additionally, the role involves tracking and reporting the status of onboarding and offboarding processes, creating onboarding checklists, conducting new employee orientation presentations, and supporting IRS operations by delivering communications regarding operational topics. The position requires the ability to prepare, coordinate, manage, and lead program briefings and reports, as well as maintaining databases and electronic filing systems. The Security Onboarding Specialist will assist in defining and implementing onboarding metrics and document service requirements for process improvements to enhance the onboarding and offboarding workflow. This role is essential for ensuring that new hires are effectively integrated into the organization and that all necessary compliance and operational procedures are followed.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with business and technology teams to initiate and collect required information from new hires for background checks.
  • Interacts with personnel to solicit onboarding documents and ensures accurate submissions.
  • Submits onboarding requests using tools such as Dropbox, Airtable, and SharePoint.
  • Monitors the establishment of network accounts and requests for government-furnished equipment (GFE, PIV).
  • Tracks and reports the status of onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Creates onboarding checklists for new employees.

  • Submits offboarding requests or relocations in conjunction with IRS policies.
  • Delivers communications regarding operational topics such as timesheets and holidays.
  • Supports archiving processes for all contract deliverables.
  • Develops concise presentations and visualizations using PowerPoint.
  • Maintains databases and electronic filing systems including MS Teams, SharePoint, and Excel documents.
  • Assists in defining and implementing onboarding metrics.
  • Documents service requirements for process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 2 - 5 years of experience or commensurate experience.
  • Extreme attention to detail to avoid errors and omissions on documents for IRS clearance.
  • Methodical approach to workflow and tasks for efficiency.
  • Analytical thinking skills to determine root causes of problems and create solutions.
  • Effective communication skills, including technical writing and the ability to translate technical approaches into actionable tasks.
  • Proficient in using MS applications such as Teams, SharePoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Prior experience in database entry and management.
