About the position

The Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst/IT Specialist position at KBR is a part-time role focused on monitoring and responding to security incidents within the EROS Center's network. This role is essential for ensuring the protection of information and systems in accordance with security principles. The SOC Analyst will work as part of a 24x7 Active Response Center team, utilizing various tools to detect and respond to security threats, perform vulnerability assessments, and maintain documentation related to security operations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor networks for security issues using SIEM/log analysis toolsets.
• Respond to and investigate alerts, documenting all investigative activity in ticketing systems.
• Triage issues escalated to the information security team and ensure appropriate follow-up actions are taken.
• Develop and maintain ARC documentation and processes.
• Monitor open source intelligence sources for potential threats and take defensive actions.
• Run vulnerability scans against EROS infrastructure and follow up on issues with relevant support teams.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of directly-related technical, professional experience required.
• Working towards a degree in an IT related field, with experience potentially substituting for education at manager's discretion.
• Sound understanding of information security principles and best practices.
• Good infrastructure and technology experience, including understanding of security operations.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with 1st line ticketing/triage.
• Experience using vulnerability scanning tools.
• Experience identifying and reporting on open source threat intelligence.
• Proven technical ability in Windows/Unix/Linux.
• Experience with Amazon cloud hosting platforms.
• Experience with VMware virtualization.
• Experience with malware analysis.
