About the position

The Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst at Gunnison is responsible for providing comprehensive cybersecurity support services to the HHS OCIO. This role involves monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security events to protect the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of information systems. The SOC Analyst will work closely with incident response teams to manage and mitigate potential cybersecurity incidents.

Responsibilities

• Collect, analyze, and correlate security events to recommend mitigation of potential incidents.
• Identify events that threaten the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of information or systems.
• Perform incident triage to determine accuracy, scope, urgency, and impact.
• Provide incident coordination and updates to the OpDiv Incident Response Teams (IRTs) and HHS.
• Notify CSIRC management and HHS IRT members of suspected incidents, detailing the event's history and potential impact.
• Perform agency-wide event and incident tracking using a ticket management system.
• Track and report ongoing cybersecurity incidents to the primary incident handler.
• Respond to verified incidents using various tools to mitigate active threats.

Requirements

• Two or more years of experience performing SOC Analyst duties.
• Experience using investigative software such as SPLUNK and Net Witness.
• Industry standard cybersecurity certification, e.g. Security+.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience (+2 years).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
