About the position

The Security Solution Engineer at Proofpoint is responsible for ensuring the success of Managed Threat customers by managing processes and supporting daily operations related to email security. This role involves monitoring operations for various Proofpoint products, providing training, and acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in email security best practices. The position requires collaboration with various teams to support program strategy and reporting, as well as handling customer escalations and providing technical guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Act as analytical Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Proofpoint's email security managed service program and best practices.
  • Respond to customer requests for adding new rules, features, policies, routes, etc.
  • Perform briefings on new product versions, features, functionality, providing analytical thought leadership.
  • Test and approve new product versions.
  • Work with Threat Strategy Managers to certify and onboard implemented systems from Professional Services team-owns onboarding acceptance criteria.
  • Assist in handling customer escalations.
  • Monitor cases to ensure that tasks are accurate, viable, and completed within SLO guidelines.
  • Manage team on-call rotation after hours and on weekends, serving as a point of escalation as necessary.
  • Provide flexibility with schedule to cover job requirements.
  • Provide technical and analytical guidance/feedback to team members.
  • Develop and administer training for Center of Excellence members to include custom, industry, and vendor-specific training.
  • Provide metrics to management.
  • Provide optimization recommendations to the MTPS Manager regarding monitoring operations.

Requirements

  • Experience with web/email gateways.
  • Background in information security or network security.
  • Corporate computer networking, technical support, system administration, Windows, Unix/Linux Operating System administration and/or network security experience.
  • Experience and proficiency designing and implementing vendor solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively with team members and clients.
  • Self-motivated, with ability to manage and follow up on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, problem solving skills, providing solutions in a systematic and clear manner, and easily understood by colleagues and customers.
  • Strong time-management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Regular expression experience.
  • Scripting knowledge of Perl, Python, Java, or Bash.
  • Vendor certifications in supported products.
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, Network+, Security+, etc.
