About the position

As a Video and Access Control Technician with BearCom, you will play a crucial role in the installation and support of both onsite and cloud-based Video Surveillance and Access Control systems. This position is integral to our service locations, where technicians are the backbone of our operations. You will be expected to deliver exceptional customer service while utilizing your technical skills to devise innovative solutions that meet and exceed customer expectations. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair of large-scale video surveillance and access control systems under the guidance of senior team members and project managers. You will also be involved in troubleshooting and repairing peripheral devices such as PoE network switches, UPS battery backups, equipment racks, video walls, access control boards, electrified locking hardware, card readers, and door contacts. Daily cleanup of job sites will also be part of your duties, ensuring a safe and organized work environment. Additionally, you will participate in proof-of-concept deployments for customer demonstrations and will be required to read and interpret design drawings and technical documentation. The role may involve some regional and/or overnight travel, as well as on-call hours, depending on project needs. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair of large-scale video surveillance and access control systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair peripheral devices such as PoE network switches, UPS battery backups, and access control boards.
  • Participate in daily cleanup of job sites as needed.
  • Engage in proof-of-concept deployments for customer demonstrations.
  • Read and interpret design drawings and technical documentation.
  • Assist senior team members and project managers in various tasks.

Requirements

  • Experience in diagnosing, repairing, programming, installing, and commissioning video, intrusion, and access control systems.
  • Good base knowledge of networks and electronic systems.
  • Ability to read basic blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures.
  • Proficiency in operating various test equipment including network testers and multi-meters.
  • Experience with IP video surveillance and access control systems, preferably Avigilon.
  • Ability to follow low voltage installation best practices.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a high school diploma.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Avigilon systems is a plus.
  • Skilled at reading blueprints and/or logic diagrams (e.g., Visio, CAD, BlueBeam).
  • Ability to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions (e.g., climbing ladders, crawl spaces).
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to obtain state licenses if applicable.
