About the position

At Eastern Airlines, we are seeking a dedicated Security Specialist 2 who will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of our operations. This full-time position is designed for individuals who are passionate about aviation security and have a strong desire to contribute to our mission of providing safe and reliable air travel. The Security Specialist 2 will work closely with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to uphold the highest standards of security compliance. This position is integral to our security team, reporting directly to the Director of Security and collaborating with various departments including Safety, Operations, and external vendors. The Security Specialist 2 will be responsible for onboarding new hires, managing crew badges, and ensuring that all employees and vendors are well-informed about the company’s security protocols. This includes creating electronic folders for crew members, managing the vetting process for employees, and conducting audits to ensure compliance with TSA and DOD regulations. The role also involves significant interaction with flight crews, airport services, and security personnel, making strong communication and organizational skills essential. In addition to these responsibilities, the Security Specialist 2 will act as the Alternate Facility Security Officer (AFSO) for the DOD, ensuring that all security requirements are met and that Ground Security Coordinators (GSCs) are adequately trained. The position may also involve working on TSA audits and special projects as needed. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in airline security, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while exercising good judgment.

Responsibilities

• Onboard new hires and create electronic folders for each crew member (Pilots, F/As, FME, LSs).
• Work with HR for CHRC documents and AEV (MCL).
• Create Crew Badges for EAL/EAX KCM/CASS (Jump Seat) Program and ensure all crew members are entered in the program.
• Manage new hire crew contracts and update passport expirations, name changes, and address changes.
• Track badge loss, expired badges, and badge returns/separations for EAL/EAX.
• Manage daily employee vetting and ensure all Eastern employees are vetted daily.
• Monitor and manage annual audits for DCS Control and Passenger Vetting.
• Build flights in MIS Choice for EAX and monitor flights, cancellations, and changes.
• Load manifests and ensure passenger vetting occurs at 72 hours prior to departure.
• Download manifests and send to screeners, ensuring screeners receive vetted manifests prior to performing security duties.
• Set up screeners for all private charters and send TSA screening notifications 72 hours prior to departure.
• Manage audit team manifests and ensure screeners' training records are up to date.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two (2) or more years of experience working in a Flight and/or Airport Operations environment utilizing large turbo aircraft is mandatory; international experience preferred.
• Results-oriented with the ability to balance diverse and dynamic operational requirements.
• Prior experience in airline security or related discipline is preferred.
• Must be able to pass government FSO security training within one (1) year or less.
• Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information, including classified information as part of the A-FSO role.
• Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient in MS PowerPoint, Excel, and MS Office Suite.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment.
